VALVES
PROBLEM
-
Valve Chatter
-
Disc pin wear and breakage
-
Erosion
-
Poor sealing due to pin wear
Valves respond to flow and pressure disturbances caused by turbulence in the piping system. This can result in the disc oscillating back and forth on the pin support. When a check valve is close-coupled to an upstream elbow, the turbulence becomes severe and the oscillations are of a large enough amplitude that the disc continually moves, may bang against the stop, and the pin eventually fails.

Our check valve systems can eliminate harmful high amplitude pressure bursts.

SOLUTION
-
Eliminate elbow induced flow turbulence
-
Extend pin life
-
Improve sealing life

Pacific Gas & Electric Hydroelectric Plant: A Flow Conditioner eliminated the need for frequent repair of a $10,000 penstock valve. Prior to installation, the valve could not be fully opened, requiring 20 minutes to flood the turbine chamber, while generating severe vibration and noise. The Flow Conditioner permitted full valve operation, requiring less than 30 seconds to flood the chamber and eliminating the extreme noise safety hazard.
FLUID HANDLING & FLOW INDUSTRY EXPERTS
The FLO-TK™ is a stationary solid construction Billet device (of proprietary design) strategically positioned upstream of an elbow or tee to attack the root of the problem by eliminating flow problems from happening. The FLO-TK™ Flow Conditioner is precision manufactured with an aerodynamic design to produce a rotation to cancel out secondary flows and prevent flow separation. Flow problems are prevented by the creation of a uniform laminar flow with increase in NPSH, flow rate, head, velocity, pressure, plant efficiency, industrial safety, parts life extension and reduced maintenance/wear.
